Embassy of Canada in Ethiopia in collaboration with Arba Minch University hosted a day-long informative session on higher education opportunities in Canada for AMU academic staff and students on December 12, 2023. Click here to see more photos.
Mrs. Silenat Derriba, Coordinator of Career Guidance and Counseling Center of Arba Minch University, emphasized the importance of partnership between the university and the Canadian Embassy for staff development and highlighted the need for university teachers and students to be aware of the opportunity of free education.
Canadian Embassy Staff Ms. Meriem Belghaubi, an Immigration Officer and Ms. Esetemichael Shibru, a senior Migration Program Assistant, presented a topic entitled "Study in Canada" and provided detailed information related to studying in Canada including how to apply for a study permit, the application procedure, required documentation, staying in Canada, working as a student, post-graduation work plans, pathways for permanent residence, and the application process.
The queries seeking clarification on including visa verification, application fees, internship programs, support services such as healthcare facilities, and restrictions on working permits were addressed by the Embassy presenters with valuable insights.
The attendees of the presentation session on free higher education opportunities in Canada and the visa processes said that the valuable insights and guidance given was informative and beneficial for their future endeavors.
The collaborative initiative aimed to create awareness, expand, and develop opportunities for Arba Minch University academic staff and students who are interested in pursuing higher education in Canada.
