Faculty of Engineering and Technology
Brief History
In 1997, three B.Sc. degree programs (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering) were added
to the then Water Technology Institute.
A further milestone in the expansion and strengthening of engineering education in the country was the opening by the School of
Graduate Studies, first in Hydraulics Engineering, and then in Irrigation Engineering. In the 2008/09 academic year eight
MSc programs are offered.

Urban Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. The duration of study program is five years for all programs,
except Architecture in which an additional half a year required.
All students wishing to join any of the Departments in the
programme of study must finish the first semester (the Pre-Engineering Semester), after which the students are allowed to choose
the department of their interest. Placement is made on the merit base, typically the grade point average earned in the
Pre-Engineering Semester. Students of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning must pass a qualifying examination
and are then assigned upon joining the University or after the Science Freshman Programme.
Post-Graduate Programmes
The areas of specialization at the M.Sc. level are:
- Electrical Engineering: Power Engineering
- Civil Engineering: Highway Engineering
All MSc programmes take two years to complete.
