AMU to set up Sports Academy, Bio-Diversity Centre; bans religious activities

With AMU Senate approving of new academic calendar on September 13, entire administrative machinery got into action to get everything in place as new academic year approaches fast.

Addressing the Institute and all colleges Deans, Directors, Heads and others, President, Dr Feleke Woldeyes, appraised the gathering about important decisions taken by the Senate.

ICT symposium postponed, to be held from Oct 10

Information Communication Technology (ICT) Directorate of Arba Minch University’s three-day symposium which was slated to be held from 19th to 21st September has been postponed due to some uncertain reason.

The symposium will now be held at Main Campus from 10th to 12th October. Other details of the event stand unchanged as mentioned in the previous report, ICT Director Mr Yoseph Debele stated.

The Arba Minch University community is fully geared up to celebrate nation's sixth National Flag Day under the theme - ''Our flag is realization of our diversity and renaissance', at its Main Campus on September 23, 2013.

The communication system within Arba Minch University is on the threshold of getting fully metamorphosed as Information Communication Technology (ICT) Directorate gets ready to phase in much-hyped Unified Communication Project in a month’s time. Unified Communication Project when rolled out stands to enrich university community with multiple IT privileges i.e. Voice-over IP Telephone, Video-Conferencing, Digital Signage & IP TV & Tele-Health Education facilities.

Institutional transformation office has new plans

The Institutional Transformation office AMU has chalked out plans and revealing this is Mr. Debalke Dalcho, its director. Key activities of this office are in supporting of teachings, learning community service, research and others to strengthen as well to bring change in the institution in AMU.While doing it, it has four primary goals and are a. Creating an institution that leads change b. Realizing continuation of this institution created c. Evaluating standards of key instruments, as this is the major activity of institutional transformation and d. Entering this changed institution and resource in to the arena of development.
