Arba Minch University will be holding a weeklong training for its academic and administrative staff on some identified broader strategic issues pertaining to higher education from 18th to 22nd September, 2017, at Main and Chamo campuses; evaluation of deep reform will also be held.

The objective of such annual training is to acquaint university community with the latest developments at national front at large and higher education front in particular. While taking stock of past challenges, sensitizing them about emerging needs and assessing level of preparedness to shoulder responsibilities to achieve AMU’s ultimate goal that form the core.

The aforesaid training will revolve around associated issues i.e. role of teachers, deliver-ology (boosting individual and institutional performance), impact of civic and ethical education, AMU’s last year performance, evaluation of deep-reform process across the board, the way forward and AMU’s plan for 2010, etc.

Training-cum-evaluation will begin simultaneously at Main and Chamo Campuses. At Main Campus, entire academic staff of university and administrative staff of Institute of technology, central administrative office and Kulfo Campus will be oriented at two different halls by AMU Board and University top officials.

It will begin with a kind of preliminary introduction, subject-based presentations, which, later will be followed by group discussion for both academic and administrative staff, informed Corporate Communication Directorate Director, Mr Fissiha Bekele.

At Chamo Campus, administrative staff of College of Social Sciences and Humanities, College of Business and Economics, College of Medicine and Health Sciences and College of Natural Sciences will converge for the training.

Such training being precursor to deep-reform, meant to restore the sense of accountability amongst university staff to achieve intended goal; evaluation of all and sundry gives the roadmap. University President and vice-presidents have already been evaluated for their performance. While, all college deans, directors, department heads of academic wings and respective staff members will follow the suit at convenient time; it’s learnt.

Subsequently, the similar training has been planned for senior students and new entrants at respective campuses. Seniors will be oriented from 5th to 7th October, 2017, while new entrants will be imparted training on 12th to 14th October, 2017, on issues relevant to them.
