Two-day Art Exhibition organized by Architecture & Urban Planning Department got underway at LT Architecture Studio, AMU Main Campus on June 7. The expo will come to an end on June 8.

It’s first ever expo being organized in which 1st year students - Biniyam Kassahun, Endale Mulugeta and expatriate instructor from Philippines, Dr/Prof. Eliezer B Manus, took the lead. Around hundreds of artistic pieces are on display.

A sketch by Biniyam - that resembles the face of David, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504, by the Italian artist Michelangelo is the pick of the lot. Second piece of ‘Mother Earth’ by Simret is message-driven and a portrait of an Oromia lady is worth mentioning.

The expo also has mini sculptures and 30 architectural designs. Artists have used Buna (coffee), pencil, oil paints, charcoal, gypsum and metal scrap to give way to their expression.

Samson Gebrehiwat, Haile Fiseha, Molalign Paulos, Redzet Kedir, Zayid Gebrekirstos, Nahom, Bisrat Berhanu, Temesgen, Mesganaw Gezmu, Solomon Tamiru, Yoniko and others have put up their works at the show.

''Nature inspires me; therefore, I am concerned about the global warming. So, through my painting, I want people to treat Earth more responsibly, the way they treat their eyes,’’ Artist Simret said.
