The university's alumni have proven to be competent professionals in their respective areas, and are actively participating in the socio-economic development of the country. A number of comprehensive researches, particularly focusing on the socio-economic problems of the area where the university is situated are being undertaken. In this connection, the twinning agreements between the institute and foreign universities should be well acknowledged. Despite the efforts being made to strengthen the capacity of academic staff in order to deliver quality education in the various programs, it is facing critical shortage of skilled and senior staff members. This is attributable to several factors of which the main being high shortage of local academic staff which is usually worsened by high staff turnover, unavailability of good quality infrastructure, medical services and communication facilities like Internet. In light of all these, the University will keep its leading role in educating and training water professionals ranging from short term demand driven upgrade courses to full-fledged degree programs.
