The ICT Development Office at Arba Minch University has vacancies for skilled ICT personnel. The vacancies have been published in Addis Zemen and Ethiopian Herald on 2 October 2009 (22 Meskerem 2002 E.C.).

Vacancy

The Arba Minch University (AMU) invites qualified applicants for positions in its developing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department. The present ICT team will be enlarged and strengthened by this recruitment. Candidates must in general have a strong affinity with ICT, ability and willingness to develop their ICT skills autonomously, a good sense of initiative, and a good work discipline; and good command of the English language. In all below vacancies, the terms of employment are: one year contract with the possibility of extension, negotiable salary unless otherwise stated. The Qualifications Diploma, BSc and MSc relate to Information Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields.

  1. Job Title: Network and Network Security Engineer (1)
    Qualification: at minimum BSc, preferably MSc; Cisco CCNA Certification required, CCNP desirable.
    Experience: network design, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, management, traffic analysis; cabling system design and implementation; Internet connection management; network security design, implementation and management (firewalls, smart cards/certificates); preferably for 3 years or more.
  2. Job Title: System Engineer (1)
    Qualification: at minimum BSc, preferably MSc; Microsoft, Linux or Solaris certification required.
    Experience: implementation of ICT services like proxy, DNS, email on Linux or Solaris; Implementation, configuration, administration of Windows 2003 Server; implementation of Web services, troubleshooting and solving systems problems; preferably for 3 years or more.
  3. Job Title: Network and Network Security Professional (1)
    Qualification: BSc. Experience: network and network security operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, management, traffic analysis; maintaining documentation of network and security implementations; preferably for 3 years or more.
  4. Job Title: System and Network Administrator / Internet Service Professional (1)
    Qualification: BSc. Experience: strong background in Windows XP and Windows 2003 server configuration; knowledge of email servers, Web servers, and Cisco network equipment; maintaining Web content on Intranet and Web servers; preferably for 2 years or more. Very good command of written English is mandatory.
  5. Job Title: System and Network Administrator / Software Development Professional (1)
    Qualification: BSc. Experience: strong background in Linux or Windows 2003 server setup and configuration, database design and programming, application implementation under Linux and/or Windows 2003 Server; preferably for 2 years or more.
  6. Job Title: Assistant System Engineer (1)
    Qualification: BSc. Experience: implementation, configuration, administration of Linux-based services, Windows 2003 server based services; implementing, configuring, troubleshooting client – server environments (eg software distribution) with Linux / Windows; preferably for 2 years or more.
  7. Job Title: e-Learning support administrator (1)
    Qualification: Diploma. Experience: strong background in e-Learning systems (Moodle, Blackboard) and the preparation of audiovisual e-Learning materials; preferably for 2 years or more.
  8. Job Title: Maintenance Technician (2)
    Qualification: Diploma. Experience: in customer-oriented work; thorough and proven experience and skills in maintenance and repair of PCs, laptops, and in Windows/XP, its common applications, , and Anti-Virus software.
  9. Job Title: Maintenance Technician (2)
    Qualification: Diploma. Experience: in customer-oriented work; thorough and proven experience and skills in maintenance and repair of printers, photocopiers, faxes, duplication machines, and beamers; and in Windows/XP, its common applications, and Anti-Virus software.
  10. Job Title: Network Technician (2)
    Qualification: Diploma. Cisco basic certification will be of advantage. Experience: well-organized network cabling installation, skills in documentation and software for it; network troubleshooting; contacts with Service Providers and suppliers.
  11. Job Title: Technical Assistants (2)
    Qualification: Diploma. Experience: in customer-oriented work; proven experience and skills in maintenance and repair of PCs, all pc accessories, UPS’s, and in Windows/XP, its common applications, and Anti-Virus software.
