The Day is celebrated at four different Campuses of the university from 3-8/2012 on presence of each campus College Deans. In the entire program, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the late Prime Minister H.E Ato Meles Zenawi at the start of the event.

Speaking on the Occasion at Nech Sar Campus Dr. Nejb Mohammed said, this year’s celebration would be unique as it is a day that the Ethiopian people recommit to realize the Vision of the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. And also gave this genuine promise to stand against poverty and to contribute what they could assist the country’s effort to bring about sustainable development, especially for the successful implementation of the Growth and Transformation plan to see a new and prosperous Ethiopia which can be of hard working by duty –bound fellow citizen in all fields of their specialization.

 

Students of AMU at the event boost Ethiopia’s image by showing the unique features in a way that Ethiopia is a place of peaceful coexistence of different nations, nationalities of people’s with much diversified culture of identity and different religions. This (It) is portrayed through their dressing style accompanying with their respective songs and dances which are staged to the delight of the audience. Panel discussion, Question and Answers session that mainly focused on the constitution of the country among the students of the university, planting trees and other Entertaining activities are part of this event. This celebration week will end on 08-December 2012 with colorful ceremonies in the Main Campus by giving different level of award accordance with their effort. In the mean time, candles were lit and a ceremonial cake was also cut during the celebrations.
