The Research Coordination Office of College of Medicine and Health Sciences held a daylong training on ‘Research proposal development and research ethics’ for its staff on 26th June, 2013, at its premises.

 

Around 35 participating trainee staff members from Department of Nursing, Laboratory Science, Public Health, Midwifery and School of Medicine were welcomed by the head of the Research Coordination Office of College of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Research Directorate Director, Dr Fantahun Woldesenbet, underscoring learning, teaching, research and community services, said, ‘‘AMU has been giving much emphasis on research-taking endeavors that has increased and shown encouraging results being implemented at the University in general and in the College in particular.’’

Dean of College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Mr Behailu Merdekios, deliberated on ‘Research problem identification and important characteristics of good research.’

Mr Marelign Tilahun dwelled on the topic - ‘Epidemiological study designs’, which had the participants understanding research questions; he also spoke on ‘Biostatistics in biomedical and/or Health Research.’

In the afternoon session, Chairperson of AMU’s Institutional Ethical Review Committee, Mr Tsegaye Tsalla, has delivered talks on ‘Human research ethics principles, evolution of research ethics and essential elements of informed consent.’
