Arba Minch University’s Research and Community Vice President’s office has signed an agreement with the prestigious Italian engineering university, Politecnico di Torino in Turin to carry out cooperative activities in research & education and in the fields of engineering on November 13, 2014. The statement of collaboration was signed by the Research and Community Service, Vice President, Dr Guchie Gulie, from Arba Minch University and Rector Prof. Marco Gilli from Politecnico di Torino in the presence of officials from both nations.


The agreement was signed in the backdrop of a technical visit of a delegation from Arba Minch Town Administration, Arba Minch Water Supply & Sanitation Enterprise, Arba Minch Municipality & Gamo Gofa Zone Administration in connection with WATSAM project, a EU-funded development project.
The project’s goal is to contribute to the achievement of sustainable local water supply and sanitation and governance of water and sanitation sector of Arba Minch Town, Ethiopia; AMU is a partner. Hence, its three members, Dr Guchie Gulie, Adane Woldemedin and Dawit Shiferaw recently had been to Italy.
As per the agreement, both partnering institutions have entered into the formal statement of collaboration for the scientific & cultural exchange and to carry out cooperative activities in the fields of engineering.
The aforesaid cooperation will be realized through coordination of initiatives such as joint education and research activities, exchange of data, documentation and research materials in the fields of mutual interest.
The details of the joint activities, conditions for utilization of the results obtained and arrangements for specific visits, exchanges and all other forms of cooperation will be negotiated for each case and will be regulated by specific agreements.
