Keeping up the pace of its earnest efforts to collaborate with internationally renowned education institution, Arba Minch University’s Institute of Technology (IoT) has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Rostock on December 11, 2014, in Rostock, Germany. The Institute of Technology’s Scientific Director, Dr Negash Wagesho, from Arba Minch University and Chair for Conservation and Soil Physics, Prof. Dr Bernd Lennartz, University of Rostock signed the agreement.
‘‘This agreement is of immense importance to AMU, as it allows us to send our PhD, MSc students and staff for higher studies to University of Rostock which would host them free of cost. Similarly, their students can come to us in order to pursue their academic interest.
Their esteemed professors can come down to our university to offer specialized courses to our students. And above all, we can develop joint research proposals in different engineering disciplines and even can seek funding from appropriate forum,’’ Dr Negash informed.
The cooperative educational and research activities, the fulcrum of above MoU states, both parties agreed to encourage exchange of visits by the faculty to get engaged in research and educational activities.
Both institutions would exchange undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students and staff members, foster exchange of academic publications and scholarly information, develop joint research activities and promote other academic activities that enable both parties to achieve agreed objectives.
The terms of cooperation for each activity shall be mutually discussed and agreed upon prior to the initiation of that activity. Each institution will seek funds to support its involvement in the cooperative activities subject to budgetary provision.
All agreed activities shall be governed by the rules and regulations and policies of both the institutions. Dr Negash and Prof. Dr Bernd Lennartz have been designated as Liaison Officer from their respective institutions to develop and coordinate agreed goals.
The initial three-year duration of this pact became effect from the day it was inked, which is subject to the periodical review; it stand to get automatically extended for another three-year unless otherwise determined.
