1.    Home Grown PhD Issues and Guidelines
Ethiopian Government under Engineering Capacity Building Program (ECBP) that aims to accelerate industrial development in Ethiopia has launched home-grown scholarship to produce qualified professionals in the field of science and technology. It focuses on the development of the private sector and institutions that support it to create new employment, improve skills of the country’s workforce, modernize the private sector and make Ethiopian products competitive in international markets.

2.    MSc and PhD programs through NICHE
The Netherlands initiative for Capacity Building in higher Education  (NICHE) has been offering for scholarship for limited number of MSc and PhD applicants on competitive basis. Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to stay in UNESCO-IHE  and Waginengen Universities during their study period.  

3.    MSc and PhD programs in Water and Health
An MSc and PhD program in Water and Health (specialization in Water and Waste Water Treatment and Water and Public Health) is a new program started jointly by the University of Connecticut in close partnership with Ethiopian universities i.e. Addis Ababa, Arba Minch, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Mekelle universities). The funding is approved by USAID – Higher Education for Development (USAID-HED) and the Ethiopian Ministry of Education. The program began from July 16, 2012; more info can be had from www.eiwr.org.

4.    CV Raman International Fellowship program for African Researchers

The Department of Science and Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India through the Federal of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) have launched the prestigious CV Raman International Fellowship program for African researchers in 2012 to provide them the opportunity to conduct collaborative research within the leading groups in Indian universities and Research and Development (R&D) institutions in the areas of science and technology.
