‘‘Ethiopia has ushered in epoch-making changes in the past 21 years that has been recognized worldwide. And among these visible changes, education sector is the key where issues like strengthening enrolment, gender equality etc. were looked into that have spurred economic growth and capacity building. AMU committed for girls’ growth: Dr Feleke

Arba Minch University President, Dr Feleke Woldeyes in a brief interview has listed out series of corrective measures to be taken by AMU to create conducive environment for girl students to successfully complete their courses and pursue right career in life.

On the question of girls faring poorly, he said, ‘‘Compared to yesteryear's our statistics say that number of female graduates has increased. However, we are taking strong measures and a system would be in place to arrest the attrition of female graduates.

He is one of the Arba Minch University Alumni, who has made its alma mater proud by making it big in the international arena. Sheer dexterity and the panache with which he carries himself in his domain speak volume about his professional attainment.

Dr Aschalew Debebe is a consummate Project Management Professional, who is presently based in Qatar on international assignment. He has had a brief two-year stint with Arba Minch Institute of Technology as a lecturer. He has played a stellar role in developing Hydro Geo-Analyst (HGA) - the all-in-one groundwater and environmental data management software with his Canadian office of his company Schlumberger.  Click here to see the picture

AMU begins intensive lab course for school students

With 13th July convocation bringing down the curtain on 2012-13 academic sessions, Arba Minch University has embarked on a unique initiative. It has designed and rolled out a six-week long ‘Summer STEM Outreach Program’ (intensive laboratory courses) for talented 450 school students hailing from four zones that fall under Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region.
