Arba Minch University has signed two construction projects to build 5-storied student’s dormitory at Sawla Campus and 4-storied Undergraduate and Postgraduate classroom buildings at Abaya that will incur ETB 72 & 394 Million respectively, informed Construction Office Manager, Mr Beza Tasfaye.Click here to see the pictures

Dormitory at Sawla Campus will be built by Addis Ababa-based contractor, Romadi Construction, and this project was signed on 29th November, 2018; and it’s likely to be completed within 540 days from the day of signing; the actual construction will begin after 21 days, he said.

Similarly, project at Abaya Campus inked on 6th October, 2018; to be carried out by Addis Ababa-based TNT Construction, will complete UG and PG classrooms within stipulated 730 days as construction will soon begin.

He also informed that there are two more projects to be signed in near future, as work in that regard is underway. Nechsar Campus will have 4-storied Library & 4-storied Laboratory; Chamo campus is likely to have 4-storied dormitory, which will cost unspecified amount to be revealed after signing the contracts.

It’s learnt that architectural designs and bidding process with regard to aforesaid 3rd and 4th projects have been completed by Purchase & Procurement Directorate. Addis Ababa-based construction firms - Unity Construction and Meseret Construction will be executing stated projects at two campuses, he said.

On current financial constraint, he replied that whatever money was left in the last year’s budget will be earmarked for the above projects and periodically we will place request for more to Ministry of Finance as it has already gave their consent in this regard, he maintained.
