The rescheduled Arba Minch University’s 25th anniversary celebration will begin from 19th to 25th May, 2014. The celebration which was to start this week got postponed due to some uncertain reasons.

The schedule of the programs announced earlier will be held as usual with minor changes. Country’s high-profile dignitaries will grace the event. Representatives from all 32 public universities, non-governmental organizations, partners, stakeholders, well-wishers, patrons and general public are also invited.

The top attraction of the event will be friendly soccer match to be held between AMU Management Team against 33 universities’ presidents, vice presidents and others, at 4 pm, Main Campus stadium on 24th May, 2014.

The friendly tie is organized with a view of strengthening relations between all premier education institutions in the country. AMU will also be hosting intra-campus soccer matches starting from 19th May.

AMU Management Team will be represented by President, Dr Feleke Woldeyes, Vice Presidents, Deans and Directors; campus-wide teams would be comprised of administrative and academic staff members.

The grand exhibition will start on the first day (19th May) and continue till the end at new Post-Graduate building. It will showcase the innovative water technology models, replicas of important national installations and different models from all engineering departments. Different colleges will also participate in expo.

The entertainment category will have plays, dramas, intra-college soccer matches, cultural and musical programs to be organized by students. March Bands will make the event look more elegant.

In the panel discussion, in-house and invited intellectuals will deliberate hydro-power and water-centric issues in Ethiopian context and AMU’s historical background.

On the occasion, a documentary film on AMU will be shown and ‘Anniversary bulletin’ featuring comprehensive information on university’s 25-year-long journey, full account of progress it made and its ambitious future plans will also be released.

AMU Sport Academy will organize some funny recreational games like tug-of-war (pulling ropes), running with a spoon carrying small ball on to it, devouring eatables etc.
