The purpose of this training is to create awareness amongst the teachers, students and all civil servants on government strategies in all higher education. We felt the need to do so, because, some of the universities are suffering due to lack of seriousness on the part of teachers, students and administrative staff. Hence, it became imperative for the government to take corrective measures, Mr Abraham said.
This training will stop people deviating from the right path and establish amicable relationship between them and government. It will make them efficient enough to deliver what is expected of them and nation can have committed and skilled professionals. It will shape up their personality and make them perfect role model for the students.
The training is meant to orient people in four significant modules i.e. Ethiopian Renaissance and Strategies, Challenges in universities and responsibilities of teachers, students & management and Constitutional Principles and Implementation.
At the outset, gathering was intimated about the very crux of the above mentioned modules. It began with discussing strategies and options of policies important and conducive for Ethiopia and make it participatory in nature, Mr Abraham stressed.
‘‘I will be orientating gathering on Renaissance and Strategy, AMU Board Chairman, Ato Tadesse Chafo, will sensitize them on Constitutional Principles and Implementation while State Minister for Economics and Finance, Ato Alemaheyu Gujo will talk on challenges in university.
Training is being conducted by 12 identified groups where each will have political leaders and professionals. Each group will be imparting training through presentations, group discussion and interaction as it moves on.
This training has no connection with the upcoming election; it’s primarily orientation on government policies; because government wants the institutions should implement government policies and people must know about it.
The training encompasses all civil servants to ingrain ethical behavior and positive attitude to tackle the challenges like rent-seeking and shirking responsibilities. Decision with regard to the training for individuals working in the private organizations has not been taken yet.
