Ministry of Education in association with Arba Minch University would be holding comprehensive orientation workshop for the academic staff, administrative personnel, senior and fresh students from September 18, 2015.

The seven-day training beginning from 18th to 24th Sept 2015, at Main Campus, for academic and administrative staff holding first degree and above will dwell into Growth and Transformation Plan-I and its achievements, preparation for GTP-II, AMU’s 2007 achievements and 2008 plan, progress on Education and Technology Development Change Army (1-to-5) and quality enhancement in education sector.

Simultaneously, administrative staff with diploma and below will undergo a weeklong orientation beginning from Sept 18, 2015, at Abaya Campus on the same issues.

The training for senior students will begin from 2rd to 6th October 2015. They will be oriented about GTP-II preparation, AMU’s 2007 achievements and 2008 plan, problems encountered in ‘1-to-5,’ stakeholders participation and previous training’s impact on students.

Fresh students joining university on Oct 6-7, 2015, in a four-day training starting from 8th to 11th October 2015, will participate in a discussion on GTP-II, quality enhancement in education, AMU’s 2008 Plan, secularism and the way forward. Training for the students would be held at their respective campuses.

Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr Yechale Kebede and Advisor for the Academic Affairs Vice President, Dr Damtew Darza, will provide the overall support; while the five-member committee will facilitate the trainings. Similarly, all colleges have formed four sub-committees to take care of the logistical arrangement on the respective days.

The five-member committee is comprised of Asst. Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Mr Malebo Mancho, President Office Head, Mr Asfaw Demessie, Institutional Transformation Directorate Director, Mr Debalke Dalcho, Students Service Directorate Director, Dr Paulose Tadesse and Corporate Communication Directorate Director, Mr Fissiha Bekele.

It’s learnt that the AMU Board members along with university top officials are likely to impart the training.
