Arba Minch University has got a shot in the arm with Ethio Telecom according sixteen new Public Internet Protocol addresses to its website recently. AMU which already has two now has 18 IP addresses at its disposal.

AMU would use one of these IP addresses for its e-learning portal. Hereafter, e-learning portal would have wider accessibility from across the world for AMU Instructors and registered students, Information Communication Technology Directorate informed.
This unique online facility has apparently curtailed geographical barriers for teaching and students community. Mere by pressing a button, registered students sitting in any corner of the world can access the portal.
With more Public IP addresses under its belt, ICT Directorate is urging Instructors to get themselves and their students registered to avail the benefit. Instructors would get especial access to upload teaching materials, examinations’ schedule & results that will minimize the last minute hassles.
Since some of AMU’s departments have computer labs with required computer terminals can even opt to offer online exams to their students. This would not only obviate the possibility of cheating while writing exams, but also save time.
AMU’s ICT Directorate has been instrumental in devising and launching e-learning portal in the year 2010; and since then most of its Instructors are availing this unique facility.
This site is being managed by ICT staff while course materials are being prepared by the university instructors. To access e-learning site one can log on to www.elearning.amu.edu.et
