Bio:
Dr. Abera Uncha Utallo is an Associate Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Arba Minch University, Ethiopia. He earned his Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Geography from Dilla University in 2003, followed by an MA in Economic Geography from Addis Ababa University in 2007. He obtained his PhD in Geography from the University of South Africa in 2014. Since joining Arba Minch University in September 2007, Dr. Abera has played a significant academic and administrative role. He taught undergraduate, graduate and PhD courses. He supervised and co-supervised 8 PhD and more than 70 masters students; and currently supervising/co-supervising 7 PhD students. Dr. Abera has also served the university in several key administrative capacities, most notably as Executive Director of the School of Graduate Studies. He currently holds dual leadership roles as the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities; and Editor-in-Chief of the Ethiopian Journal of Business and Social Science His research interests focus on: He has created national and international collaborations with Universities and Organizations has been serving as a focal person for Arba Minch University - Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission collaboration, Arba Minch University – Space Science and Geospatial Institute Collaboration and Arba Minch University - University of Limerick (Republic of Ireland) collaboration, Dr. Abera has published over 30 scholarly articles in nationally and internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
