Bio:

Dr. Awoke is currently teaching staff at Arba Minch University. He is certified (Higher Diploma Program) professional teacher equipped with the necessary subject wise knowledge, and teaching skill (pedagogical/teaching). Dr. Awoke offered different courses including Advanced Microbial Physiology, Techniques in Molecular Biology, Environmental Biotechnology, Waste Management, Environmental Sampling & Analysis, Fundamentals of Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, and Scientific Writing for M.Sc and Ph.D students. He is also (as guest lecturer) offering different courses for M.Sc students at Pan Africa University.

Dr. Awoke have proven track record of managerial skills such as Principal Director at Arba Minch University-Community School, Department Head of Biology, Director of Biological and Cultural Diversity Research Center, Head of Research Coordinator of Natural Sciences College (NSC), and currently Head of Institutional Quality Assurance (IQA) Office at NSC. While Biotechnology (Ph.D) curriculum was developed at Biology Department, he was leading the curriculum development group in 2016. He was also one of the member for Environmental Science (Ph.D) curriculum development group that was finalized in 2023. Moreover, Dr. Awoke is currently assigned to revise two M.Sc (Biotechnology, and Environmental Science) curricula run under Biology Department.

Dr. Awoke for his outstanding achievements has awarded the following:

    Dr. Awoke is an environmentalist, microbiologist, and biologist with broad research interest in biological wastewater treatment, nutrient removal from waste stream, struvite recovery from wastewater/hydrolyzed urine, alkaliphilic microorganism for textile dye removal, heterocyclic compound treatment using advanced oxidation process (AOP) and biological systems, membrane bioreactor, membrane fouling, analyzing bacterial wilt disease from enset, moringa use as water purification, analyzing metabolites from medicinal plants etc.

    Dr. Awoke Guadie's research works has been published (>50) in a reputable SCI journals, been cited more than 1640 times, and has an H-and I10-index factor of 21 and 36, respectively (Google Scholar). So far, his research team have conducted a number of research projects related to Nitrogen and phosphorus treatment using FBR-MBR combo system (Guadie et al., 2013 at Bioresource Technology; Guadie et al., 2014 at Environmental Sciences; and Guadie et al., 2014 at Bioresource Technology); dye degradation using pure alkaliphilic/consortia microbes (Guadie et al., 2014 at Biotechnology Reports; Guadie et al., 2018 at Chemosphere; Tizazu et al., 2022 at Journal of Environmental Management; Tizazu et al., 2023 at Heliyon); anaerobic-aerobic wastewater treatment for agricultural purpose (Guadie et al., 2021 at Science of the Total Environments; Guadie et al., 2021 at Journal of Water Process Engineering); antibiotic and heavy metal decontamination (Minal et al., 2020 at Journal of Environmental Management; Ding et al., 2021 at Journal of Hazardous Material; Minal et al., 2021a and b at Chemosphere; Minal et al., 2021 at Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering); biochar for total nitrogen removal from secondary effluent (Aijibade et al., 2020 at Bioresource Technology); heterocyclic compound treatment with AOP and biological techniques (Guadie et al., 2021 at Journal of Environmental Management; Ren et al., 2020 at Environmental Research); phosphorus recovery as struvite from various waste streams (Guadie et al., 2021 at Environmental Research; Yesigat et al., 2022 at Environmental Research); environmental carcinogenic compound on cancer (Fangninou et al., 2022 at Journal of Hazardous Material); and bioelectrochemical system for wastewater treatment (Cai et al., 2020 at Applied and Environmental Microbiology; Xu et al., 2020 at Environmental Research).     Dr. Awoke Guadie also mentored 27 (21 M.Sc and 6 Ph.D) students at Arba Minch University and other Universities in Ethiopia, and 12 graduate (3 Ph.D and 9 M.Sc) students mentored abroad, which makes a total of 39 students got his advisory service.
