Bio:

Dr. Ephrem is currently working as academic staff and faculty member of the geology department at Arba Minch University. He is an associate professor in geological engineering and geosciences, having significant experience in teaching and research activities. As an academic staff member, he has offered different courses in postgraduate and undergraduate programs, including advanced Rock mechanics, Advanced soil mechanics, Foundation engineering and Ground improvement techniques, Engineering geological and geotechnical Site investigation techniques, Advanced Engineering Geology, Geohazards, Geohazard risk assessment and management, Environmental impact assessment, Environmental engineering and modelling, Rock mechanics and tunnel engineering for postgraduate programs under geology and other engineering programs (civil and hydraulic engineering programs). He supervises several students master theses and engages in different university research activities.

Currently he leads one grand project in landslide hazard assessment and stabilization mechanisms and is involved in other thematic research. Dr. Ephrem is also serving in the university academic positions. He is currently Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance (IQAD) Directorate Office of the University and previously also served as IQA Coordinator of the Natural Science College and head of the Geology Department. He has served in different extracurricular and committee works at the university.

    • PhD in Geological Engineering (Engineering Geology) from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGGCAS), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Beijing, China.
    • MSc in Geological Engineering (Engineering Geology) from Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
