Bio:

Dr. Teklu Wegayehu Zara was borne in March 1978 in Ochollo Lante kebele, a village in Arba Minch Zuria district. He grew and attend his elementary education at the birth place until 1996.

    Dr. Teklu started his formal education in his birth place. He was attended his elementary education at Lante elementary and secondary School. He completed his secondary education at Arba Minch Comprehensive High School in 1997. Dr. Teklu has received all his Degrees from Addis Ababa University. He obtained his BSc Degree in Biology and MSc Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Faculty of Science (4 killo), Addis Ababa University in 2005 and 2009, respectively. Dr. Teklu received his PhD in Tropical and Infectious Diseases from Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathobiology, Addis Ababa University in 2016.

    Dr. Teklu Wegayehu is an Associate Professor of infectious Diseases in the Department of Biology at Arba Minch University, Ethiopia. He started his job in the Department of Biology at Arba Minch University in 2005 as a Graduate Assistant. He passed all academic ranks in the same Department and has promoted to the Associate Professor rank in 2020.

    Dr. Teklu has been teaching Major subjects in undergraduate and graduate programs. To mention, Principles of Parasitology, Introduction to Immunology in the UG; and Biology of Arthropod-Borne Pathogens, Advanced immunology, Cellular and Molecular Immunology, Immunology of Infectious Diseases, Advanced Immunology of Infectious Diseases, Biology of Pathogenic Microorganisms, Diagnostic Techniques in Vector Borne Pathogens, Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases, Host Pathogen Interactions, Molecular Epidemiology and Disease Pathology, Biology of Emerging Microbial Diseases, Research Methods and Scientific Communications, and Scientific Writing, in the PG programs.

    Other Engagement

    Addition to teaching and research, he has also engaged in several professional activities. To mention, he has been served as Co-editor-in chief of OMO International journal of Science from 2019 to 2024, he reviewed MSc and PhD curriculum in different Universities, examined 70 MSC and two PhD candidates in Addis Ababa Universities, advised and co-advised 40 MSc and 8 PhD Candidates. Dr. Teklu is Member of several Committees, Professional Societies and experience in Journal edition. He has previously served as Director for Community Engagement Directorate (2017-2024) and currently serving as Director for School of Graduate Studies (since July 2024) of Arba Minch University, among other admin experience.
