International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) in collaboration with Arba Minch Water Technology Institute (AWTi) conducted three-day staff training for staff and post graduate students at main campus from November 29 to December 1/2023. Click here to see more photos.

AWTi Scientific Director, Dr. Bogale Gebremariam, officially opening the training said that such trainings are planned to enhance the content, quality, and timeliness of research and capacity building trainings are a part of a broader strategy to upgrade professional qualification of academic and research staff that will enable the university to make substantial contributions to the development of the nation.

Dr. Demelash Wondimagegnehu, Academic Affairs Director of AWTi, said, this capacity building training on soil and water assessment tool (SWAT) was conducted by Dr. Abiyou Wale, former Arba Minch University graduate and a scientist at ICARDA. Dr. Demelash also emphasized that the training helps the staff to utilize collected information for research purposes efficiently and facilitates learning, teaching, and research.

The trainees expressed their gratitude for being given the opportunity and said that the training enhanced their skills of teaching and research. They also acknowledged the immense benefits they gained from learning how to utilize SWAT for data processing.

Certificates of participation were handed over to the participants who successfully completed the training.
