An International Workshop on Bioinformatics and Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases held in Arba Minch University

Arba Minch University along with Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées, CIMPA, Pharmaceutical Information Management System, PIMS, International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, ICMS, and European Mathematical Society, EMS, hosted an international collaborative Workshop on Bioinformatics and Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases from December 18^th to 22^nd, 2023. With a focus on the latest advancements in the field, the workshop offered a golden opportunity for staff and stakeholders to expand their knowledge and expertise. It’s also a unique opportunity of advancing the field of bioinformatics and infectious disease modeling.

During the engaging workshop, participants delved into interactive sessions, insightful lectures, and hands-on activities regarding bioinformatics and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases; the attendees gained valuable insights into cutting-edge research methodologies and tools that shape the field. It was also an open space for encouraging more networking activities with like-minded professionals, fostering collaborations and dealing with innovative ideas of the up to date advancements.

Three MSc. students of AMU were selected for international training opportunities in South Africa, Canada, and England while another PhD student was awarded free dissertation advisory from a distinguished professor at a Canadian university.

Prof Julian Arino from Manitoba University, Canada, Dr Patrick M Tcheprmo Djomegni from North West University, South Africa, and Dr Peter Olukanmi from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa will be the esteemed speakers to grace the workshop.
