Ministry of Education in association with Arba Minch University’s week-long orientation workshop that began from Sept 18, 2015, for academic staff and administrative personnel concluded on Sept 24, 2015. Click here to see the Pictures.

The training began in two locations at Main Campus of which one was hosted for academic and administrative staff holding first degree and above led by University Board Chairman, Mr Tagesse Chafo, who is Ethiopian Federal Democratic Republic Government’s deputy minister heading Policy Research Centre.

Conducting the training Mr Tagesse, apprised the audience with government’s overall efforts in carrying out developmental projects across the nation. Urged the academic community to be mission-focused, he said, your committed participation will certainly contribute in achieving the desired goal.

The training for the second group consisting of admin staff holding diploma and below at another hall at Main Campus was led by AMU President, Dr Feleke Woldeyes. He termed the training is an opportunity to know government’s preparedness in tackling the challenges while serving the countrymen.

The third group of administrative staff holding educational qualification diploma & below was held at Abaya Campus. Deputy Minister for infrastructure, policy planning implementation and evaluation in the office of Prime Minister, Mr Wondimu Gezaheign, led the training.

On the subsequent days strategic issues like AMU’s 2007 achievements and 2008 plan, progress on Education and Technology Development Change Army and quality enhancement in education sector were looked into.

University Vice Presidents, Dr Guchie Gulie, Dr Yehcale Kebede and Rahel Elias, Advisor for the Academic Affairs Vice President, Dr Damtew Darza and other directors also provided their support for the training.

The five-day training for senior students began from 2nd to 6th October 2015 and orientation for the fresh students started from 8th to 12th October 2015 in their respective campuses.
