For the academic year 2015-16 (2008EC), Arba Minch University, has launched four new under-graduates and four graduate programs. Doctoral studies (PhD) in Animal Nutrition and another Master in Post-Harvest Management are under consideration.

This year’s, four approved Master programs are - ‘Medical Microbiology’ which will be run by College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sports Science & Orthopedic Surgery by College of Natural Sciences, Rural Development & Agricultural Extension and Livestock Production and Management by College of Agricultural Sciences, informed, School of Graduate Studies Director, Dr Anto Arkato.

He further adds, university in all likelihood would launch its second PhD program in Animal Nutrition from the second semester this year. Master program - Post-Harvest Management may also be launched in near future.

Four new under-graduate programs i.e. ‘Adult Education and Community Development’ from College of Social Science and Humanities to be attached to the department of Pedagogy and Behavioral Science; ‘Communication and Media Studies’ would come under the department of English Language and Literature, only to be taught at Sawla Campus. However, the classes for Sawla-bound students will continue to be held at Abaya Campus for two months.

Remaining two UG programs - Gamogna and Goffigna Languages, the part of department of Ethiopian Language and Literature, will be taught at Chamo Campus only.

Senate has also revised the tuition fees for the engineering and non-engineering students. Non-engineering fees have been raised to ETB 600 from ETB 400; similarly, engineering fees went up to ETB 600 from ETB 450 per semester. Senate has also approved academic calendar for the 2015-16 (2008EC).
