Arba Minch University will celebrate 11th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day with zeal and great enthusiasmon 5th December, 2016, at Main Campus, under the theme, ‘Our Constitution for democracy, unity and renaissance.’

In this regard university management has constituted a committee under the leadership of President, Dr Damtew Darza and vice presidents that has assigned different tasks to be carried out by different eight sub-committees so that this national event is successfully organized.

In the morning, Arba Minch Town Cultural Band will render songs blended in lilting ethnic music representing different nationalities. Later, panel discussion on ‘Federalism, Constitution and its fruits,’ will inform the gathering about achievements made so far and the way forward that will beget sustainable economic growth and establish peace and harmony in the nation.

On the occasion, a quiz contest for students on the topic of panel discussion will be held and the winners will be rewarded with cash prizes.

In the afternoon, slew of sporting events will set the tone for celebration, which will begin with AMU security personnel presenting the march-past.

Thereafter, various troupes of students representing different nationalities will showcase the unique traditional and ethnic splendor of all nine regions.

A cultural song by Community School kids will be an icing on the cake. Entire university community including academic,

administrative staff, students, patrons, well-wishers, stakeholders and others are cordially invited to attend the event.
