The project is planned to address key challenges in the targeted selected enset growing communities such as: (1) lack of economic opportunity from untapped high value agricultural products from Enset, (2) unemployment and irregular migration, (3) poor business and market development, (4) food security and weak resilience to climate shocks, and (5) poor Enset production & processing practices, technologies, marketing systems & policies. Through tackling these interrelated problems, this intervention will: introduce new processing technology, diversify livelihoods with creation of on-farm and off-farm works to create rural jobs for unemployed youth and women.
