18th global meet on ‘Sustainable Water Resource Development’ from June 8

Arba Minch University’s Water Technology Institute will be hosting 18th International symposium on ‘Sustainable Water Resource Development’ at New Hall, Main Campus from 8th to 9th June, 2018. It will have 22 research papers and six poster presentations from across the globe.

Barley research: Gamo Gofa Zone’s sagging business to get fillip

Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), one of the first crops domesticated for human beings in the world is a major crop across Ethiopian highlands and it also has a growing malt sector. But, the scenario at Gamo Gofa zone is dismal as it produces barley that can be only utilized to brew no-so-commercially viable local beverage called ‘tella’  while released varieties are remunerative. CRTC-NTD stands head and shoulders above rests in Ethiopia

For Neglected Tropical Diseases’ epidemiology in Ethiopia, AMU’s Collaborative Research and Training Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease is the lone ranger, which is evident from the fact that Ministry of Health has accredited it with stupendous task of independently monitoring of mass-drug administration across the country, which it did hands down. Underground storage can change Apple business dynamics: Study

Chencha, a small town tucked up 3013 meter above sea level with its salubriously chilly climate is indeed an apple orchard. Annually it cultivates 15 metric tons of apples that amount to 30% of total estimated national production of 50 metric tons. But producers’ saga seems to be far from over as they sell fruits on farm gate price forfeiting actual benefit due to lack of storage facilities as it throws demand-and-supply ratio in shambles, AMU researcher, Mr Behailu Asrat argues.
