To realize sustainable development in the nation, higher academic institutions should work with manufacturing industries, research institutions, and governmental and non-governmental organizations both nationally and internationally to share knowledge, skills, and resources for successfully attaining their common goals. Arba Minch University (AMU), among the eight public research universities in the nation, has a mission of offering relevant and quality education and training, conducting problem-solving and indigenous knowledge-integrated research, and adapting and transferring skills and technologies which have high values to the socio-economic development of the community. To have effective and efficient collaboration with different partners, the University-Industry Linkage plays a significant role in knowledge and technology transfer from the university to the industry and for the effective use of university graduates and research outputs by the industry. Moreover, the research outputs of the academic institutes should support the industry to make it competitive globally in its production capacity as well as its quality of production. In the same way, the industry should support the academic institutes financially when the researchers have been conducting research related to the problems of the industry and support the interns and externs of the University in their practical attachment to the industry so that the University produces graduates with a high level of knowledge and skills, as required by the industry.
To accomplish these activities, AMU established the UIL-TT Directorate office in 2017 and strongly working on it. One of the missions of the Directorate office is to facilitate collaborations and partnership activities with other institutions locally and globally by creating the linkage between AMU and Partner organizations through the provision of MoU to be signed by higher officials of the University with that of the partner organization. Below shows a list of signed MoUs by AMU with local partner organizations.
