The office of the Vice President for Research and Cooperation (VPRC) is accountable to the President of the University. It leads two Pillars of the University: namely Research and Community Services. The office of VPRC plays a vital role in directing, shaping up and monitoring its research and publication, home base journals, consultancy and industry linkages, entrepreneurship and technology incubation, grant search and collaboration, and research ethical initiatives being carried out by the university both within the institution and outside. It also shares the vision, mission and values of the University and works in ensuring these are achieved.
Seven research centers and two research units are also accountable to the office of VPRC. The Directorates, research centers and units, and community delivery centers are responsible in ensuring quality in research at individual, team of researchers and institutional level maintained and community service is strengthened through a collaborative and a resource sharing principle where the community’s heart-felt needs are addressed and its welfare is safeguarded. Besides, campus have their own coordination offices for the two pillars.

Recently, Arba Minch University along with seven other sister universities has been differentiated as a research university where scientific thoughts and cultures are cultivated and developed, indigenous wisdom and knowledge of the local communities are augmented and integrated with the scientific practices; due to scientific innovations, useful ideas and technologies are commercialized. Collaboration with other research and technology universities across the globe will be consorting through our internationalization and globalization angles.
