Designed with the well-being of children aged 6 months to 3 years in mind, the center offers a nurturing environment with dedicated play areas, dining facilities, cozy sleeping rooms, and child-friendly restrooms.

Dr.-Ing. Abdella Kemal, President of AMU, underscored the center's vital role in empowering female staff. “This childcare facility is vital for empowering female teachers, researchers, and administrative staff, allowing them to perform their duties with assurance." He further noted this will greatly enhance staff productivity and operational efficiency.

Dr. Teklu Wagayehu, Vice President for Research and Cooperation, emphasized AMU's commitment to its community by underscoring the university's vision of providing quality education from daycare through to the PhD level. He noted that the new daycare center is a significant milestone in the university's pursuit of institutional excellence.

Dr. Tolera Seda, Director of Community Engagement and Industry Linkage, stressed the crucial role of childcare in supporting working mothers. He acknowledged the center would allow female employees to excel in their roles while staying connected with their children.

Dr. Fasil Eshetu, AMU-IUC Project Manager, shared that the initiative was inspired by the low number of female applicants for AMU-IUC PhD programs, which highlighted the challenges women face in balancing work and childcare. "This center seeks to tackle those challenges, empowering women to engage more fully in academic and research activities," he explained.

Sub-Project 7 Leader, Dr. Genaye Tsegaye, and Project Coordinator, Mrs. Bayush Tesfaye, outlined exciting future plans for the center, covering operational guidelines, service quality, payment conditions, and plans for expanding similar services. The project has provided fully equipped, child-friendly rooms at the Abaya Campus.

Dr. Tewodros Birhanu, Dean of the College of Natural and Computational Sciences, offered his deep appreciation to everyone involved in this impactful project. Emphasizing that the daycare center fulfills a long-standing need, he pledged the college's continued support and active oversight to guarantee its long-term success.

Parents at the event shared their heartfelt joy and appreciation for the new daycare center, expressing confidence that it will allow them to focus on their work knowing their children are in safe and nurturing hands. They also voiced their commitment to supporting the center's growth and sustainability, offering valuable insights and suggestions for its future success.

Certificates of recognition were awarded to those who played vital roles in bringing this project to life, and to those trained to provide exceptional childcare services.
