Arba Minch Institute of Technology (AMiT) hosted an internal curriculum review workshop of Civil engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering B.Sc. curricula in Main Campus on April 28, 2025. Click here to see more photos.

 

Muluneh Lemma (PhD), the Scientific Director of AMIT, opening the workshop, emphasized the importance of curriculum review in aligning educational offerings with current industry needs and academic standards. He stated that conducting program and curriculum reviews is essential for achieving institutional mission as the university heads into a research-focused, autonomous university. 

Dr. Balakumar, an Associate Professor from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, presented on the B.Sc. program curriculum focusing on admission requirements, teaching methodologies, and quality assurance measures whereas Dr. Rajesh, a Professor in Construction Technology and Management addressed the B.Sc. program curriculum in Civil Engineering stressing on the need for industry relevance. Finally, Abel Daniel, a Lecturer in Surveying Engineering discussed B.Sc. in Surveying Engineering emphasizing the importance of consistency in module competencies.

Hiwot Tsegaye (PhD), the Institutional Quality Assurance Coordinator at AMIT, Yalisho Girma (PhD), an Assistant Professor at the faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Bisrat Gissila (PhD), Deputy Scientific Director of AMIT along with others provided valuable feedbacks on proposed changes highlighting the necessity of strong industry ties and expert insights in shaping the educational framework for the future.

The participants focused on addressing concerns on potential key areas of course composition, internship opportunities, and programs and curricula alignment with employer expectations to deliver high-quality education.
