Arba Minch University is pleased to announce a call for proposals under the Special Female Research Project scheme. This initiative is designed to empower junior female researchers and instructors by providing them with dedicated funding and institutional support to pursue innovative research aligned with the university’s thematic priorities.
🎯 Objectives
- To strengthen the research capacity of junior female researchers who are not yet eligible to lead thematic research projects.
- To promote gender equity in research leadership and scholarly output.
- To generate high-quality publications that contribute to the university’s mission and national development.
📌 Eligibility Criteria
- All project members (Principal Investigator(s) and Co-Investigator(s)) must be female.
- Male colleagues may be included only under exceptional circumstances, subject to scrutiny and approval by the respective College/Institute/School/Center Research Council.
- All female researchers/instructors can apply. Junior female researchers/instructors will be given priority.
- PhD candidates cannot apply for this scheme.
📑 Proposal Requirements
- Research ideas must be aligned with themes identified by Arba Minch University.
- Proposals should clearly outline:
- Research Title
- Rationale
- Objectives and significance
- Methodology (including lab/fieldwork plans if applicable)
- Expected outcomes and contributions
- Budget justification
- Timeline and deliverables (See the research guideline for details of components of a proposal)
⏳ Duration
- Each Special Female Research Project must be completed within 1.5 years (18 months).
💰 Funding
- The budget limit for a single project is:
- 200,000 ETB for social science-related research
- 250,000 ETB for natural science-related research
- Final allocation is subject to financial defense and evaluation by the respective College/Institute/School Research Council.
📝 Submission & Review Process
- Proposals must be submitted through ROMS (Research Output Management System).
- The review process will be handled by the respective research coordinator/center director the researcher/instructor belongs to or applied for.
📚 Expected Outputs
- A minimum of two publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals is required from each project.
📅 Important Dates
- Call Opens: November 18, 2025
- Submission Deadline: December 18, 2025
- Review Date: December 28, 2025
- Notification of Results: January 5, 2026
- Project Start Date: January 10, 2026
