Arba Minch University (AMU) launches AI-powered High Resolution Ethiopian Climate Data Store (AMU-Clim)” Project on March 10/2025 at Main campus. The project duration will be one year. Click here to see more photos.

Tesfaye Habtemariam (PhD), Research Affairs Directorate Director and delegate for Vice President for Research and Cooperation, welcoming the participants at the project kickoff opening ceremony, said, after establishing Grant and Collaboration Management Directorate at AMU, visible changes have been made and AMU has started to attract  lots of collaborative projects. Grant projects management guideline developed grants many opportunities for staffs who write projects and benefits the staff and which will be signed by senate in the near future, he remarked. Next to this, AMU is ready to establish center for AI and Cyber Security, Dr. Tesfaye confirmed.

Thomas Torora (PhD), Director for Grants and Collaboration Projects Management directorate and the principal investigator of AMU-Clim project, stated the project is about production of high resolution climate data set for Ethiopia and its importance is that it produces a lot of open access data set which can be available for society, researchers and PhD students. Beside this, the project empowers human capacity, he underscored.

AMU staffs, PhD students and staff from Ethiopian Meteorology Institute were in attendance.
