Mr. Bogale urged the graduates to translate the knowledge, skills, and research experience they acquired during their university education into practical solutions that contribute to the country's overall development and improve the livelihoods of its people. Expressing his confidence that the graduates would become worthy ambassadors of AMU, he wished them every success in their future careers.
AMU President Dr. Ing. Abdella Kemal stated that the university remains committed to strengthening the quality of teaching and learning, research, and community engagement through continuous institutional improvement. Congratulating the graduates, the president emphasized that the degrees they received represent the reward for years of hard work and the beginning of a greater journey rather than the end of their education. He noted that the world is changing rapidly and encouraged the graduates to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills through lifelong learning in order to remain competitive and relevant.
Sawla Campus Head Mr. Zeleke Dosa, highlighting the remarkable growth of the campus since its establishment in 2015, explained that the campus, which initially launched with only four academic programs, has now expanded to 29 programs as part of its commitment to improving educational quality and expanding access to higher education. He further noted that the campus currently serves more than 2,500 students. According to Mr. Zeleke, the campus has registered significant progress across all sectors, particularly through the construction of modern laboratory facilities with an investment exceeding half a billion Ethiopian Birr. He added that these laboratories are now being extensively utilized by students for research and practical learning.
AMU Alumni Association President, Mr. Ermiyas Alemu, speaking on the graduation ceremony, stressed that today's world demands more than academic qualifications and requires graduates who are capable of solving societal challenges. He encouraged the graduates to transform community problems into opportunities through innovation and commitment. Mr. Ermiyas reminded the graduates that they officially became ambassadors of Arba Minch University from the day of their graduation and called upon them to serve their country and communities with integrity, professionalism, and honesty while upholding the good reputation of their alma mater. He also encouraged them to strengthen their ties with the university by joining AMU Alumni LinkedIn and Telegram platforms and actively participating in the university's Alumni Association.
During the ceremony, outstanding graduates were recognized for their academic excellence. Female students who achieved the highest academic performance in their respective colleges received special awards, while students who secured first place with distinction in their fields of study were presented with gold medals.
Since its establishment eight years ago, Sawla Campus has produced a total of 2,540 graduates, including this year's graduating class, making a significant contribution to Ethiopia's skilled human resource development.
