Chemistry Department from College of Natural Science situated at Abaya Campus will be hosting a seminar on ‘Organic Compounds Structural Elucidation by Joint Spectroscopy methods,’ at the School of Post-Graduate Studies, University’s Main Campus on September 7.

Lecturer in Organic Chemistry, Mr Addisalem Abebe, will present a paper on ‘ultra-violet, infra-red, nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectroscopy (spectroscopic machines),’ wherein he will explain as how to find the correct structure of organic compound.

The motto behind this seminar is to apprise students about the information on Spectroscopy methods. The above mentioned machines, he said, give spectra data which when combined enable the student to identify the specific compound of organic (compound of carbon) kind.

The seminar is meant for the students and staff members of the Chemistry department; other interested individuals are also invited.
