The Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) of Ethiopia has launched a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to continually develop the competency of health professionals through standardized in-service training. The primary goal of the CPD program is ensuring quality health service by competent health professionals and linking the continuing education unit (CEU) with license renewal requirements. Arba Minch University (AMU), College of medicine and health science is a registered CPD provider in Ethiopia. Training has been given to health care providers based on the need for the healthcare system which is assessed by top-down and bottom-up approaches. CMHS has a dedicated staff and panel of experts in various disciplines who are engaged in various capacity building, needs assessment, monitoring, and evaluation activities.

The CPD and training director office shall be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive professional development programs by collaborating with professional associations, assessing needs, developing and accrediting course modules, leveraging eLearning platform, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The office is structurally accountable for medical services and educational quality enhancement and innovative corporate director
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs. Performing program needs assessment and make recommendations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with national professional development standards and guidelines.
- Facilitate continuous quality improvement through structured evaluation of CPD programs.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in processes, practices and technologies used in program design and delivery to improve uptake and value
- Contribute to the development and implementation of communications plans to promote CPD programs which support members in their professional practice, professional development and career progression.
- Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports.
- Act as a liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
- Work with relevant teams across the organization on the delivery of mutual tasks and projects.
- Perform related duties based on organizations and associations need.
- May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approved time off, etc.).
- Ensure that all CPD courses meet recommended standards required by the respective professional disciplines
- Establish CPD panel expert committee for developing modules and providing accreditation following the set criterion for accreditation.
- Monitor the CPD and training center about renewal of center accreditation status.
- Coordinate CPD program registrations (including data entry of records, promotional activities and responding to queries).
- Develop grant project for strengthening the center

Anatomy, one of the basic pillars of all medical fields of study for a strong foundation in human biology is quintessential to understand human diseases in its entirety. And teaching in Human Anatomy at College of Medicine and Health Sciences started since 2008.
In the beginning, due to lack of specialized staff teaching was done on a theoretical basis, but soon School of Medicine temporarily had a room at Main Campus where dissection of cadaver was first introduced in 2010 and later, it was shifted to Nech Sar Campus along with the College.
Teaching courses such as gross, neuro, microscopic and developmental Anatomy continues and by 2015, there was Anatomy unit that was managing everything. In 2017, it introduced Master program in Clinical Anatomy and a year later it got metamorphosed into Department of Anatomy.

The department aspires to be the best in imparting Master program thus producing potential professionals across Ethiopia.

OBJECTIVES
Ø To offer courses in gross, microscopic and developmental anatomy to UG, paramedical students and to PG students in Clinical Anatomy and other programs.
Ø To carry out basic, applied and interdisciplinary biomedical researches
GOAL
Ø To advance existing curriculum to create next generation of innovative clinical anatomy education and research for health sciences practice
Ø To promote development of new curriculum in mortuary science
Ø To open up an embalming center to serve community and generate an income
