PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Providing legal aid assistance including legal counseling and legal support for vulnerable youth including survivors of GBV to ensure their access to formal justice systems and processes. AMU legal aid will serve in the selective woredas to ensure youth that need legal aid assistance can gain services without incurring expensive costs of legal assistance. The GBV and legal aid partner will be connected by referral pathway. The school of law faculty will conduct awareness raising on GBV including harmful traditional practices, the national and international laws as well as on the available services to GBV survivors. The target community of GBV survivors and vulnerable or at-risk youth, across the project woredas will be assisted with legal representation in courts (lawyers’ fee, transportation cost for survivors, witnesses etc.), assistance for documentation (Housing, land and property and conflict related paternity) and child custody and maintenance cost for the child.
