PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Water Productivity in Practice (WaterPIP) Knowledge and Action Network project is part of the DUP3 initiative, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the DUPC3 Water and Development Partnership Program (2021-2027), with UNESCO-IHE as the primary grant recipient. Focused on "Water for Food," the project's goal is to foster sustainable water management in low- and middle-income countries via a consortium that includes various partners from each country. The goal is pursued through a consortium approach, integrating research, education, and knowledge sharing activities. In Ethiopia there are three partners including Arba Minch University, the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation, and the Association for Sustainable Development Alternative. These organizations contribute to the project through co-funding, training, and research collaboration. AMU mainly operates in the Southern Selected district and project site while ASDA and EECo operate and execute the Northern portion of the project. The initiative comprises four program components Partnerships and Joint Learning, Research and Advocacy, Education and Training, and Institutional Strengthening broken down into five work packages aimed at achieving specific objectives. The research follows a participatory approach which engages marginalized/selected farmers who will be engaged in the research works of water productivity and derivatives related to it.
