PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Moringa Platform project aims to initiate a research and development (R&D) network between Sweden and partners in East and South Africa focused on moringa production. Various stakeholders will be brought together to identify future directions as well as knowledge gaps in the moringa value chain. To provide a complex overview of moringa plant cultivation potential together with marketing and product processing gaps, all the value chain nodes will be addressed by involving different stakeholders (researchers, smallholder farmers and policymakers). The project will be coordinated in line with sustainable development goals (SDGs), specifically targeting SDGs 1 (No poverty), 2 (Zero hunger) and 3 (Good health and well-being), leading to SDG 12 (Responsible consumption and production). This will be achieved through three main activities: 1) Project coordination and network formation; 2) Pilot study: data collection and knowledge gaps identification; and 3) Project outcomes dissemination and follow-up preparation. At the end of the project, a viable moringa platform will be created, ready to address identified knowledge gaps through future joint R&D initiatives.
