1. About the Department
Statistics shapes the way we understand our world—from scientific breakthroughs to informed public policy. At Arba Minch University, the Department of Statistics offers high-quality education and research opportunities that respond to the evolving needs of society and industry.
Since our establishment in 2006 G.C., we have expanded rapidly, launching Bachelor’s and Master’s programs designed to equip students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills. We are underway to launch PhD programs. Additionally, we take pride in offering community-based consulting services through our Statistical Consulting Service Center (SCSC), which enhances the research capacity of the university and the broader community.

2 Meet Our Programs
Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Statistics
Our undergraduate program provides a strong foundation in statistical theory, data analysis, and applied research methods. Students graduate ready to contribute to diverse fields such as business, healthcare, government, and technology.

4. Facilities and Services
Statistical Consulting Service Center (SCSC)
Established in 2019 G.C., the Statistical Consulting Service Center (SCSC) provides professional consulting services to Arba Minch University staff, researchers, and students.
We offer:
· Research methodology guidance
· Statistical model selection and data analysis
· Software support and training (SPSS, Minitab, R, SAS, Stata, MLwiN, WinBUGS, LaTeX, and others)
Through the SCSC, we strengthen the quality of research across disciplines and contribute to the community’s development through data-driven insights.

Overview
The Department of Biology at Arba Minch University has a rich history, beginning its teaching and learning process when Arba Minch Water Technology Institution was upgraded to Arba Minch University in 2004. Over more than 20 years, the department has undergone various stages of development, transitioning from a "Biology Unit" to a fully organized department. It is considered one of the leading and robust departments within the College of Natural and Computational Sciences at Arba Minch University. The study of biology encompasses basic and applied aspects, with the applied aspects finding practical applications in various fields such as agriculture, industry, medicine, biotechnology, and environmental protection.
The Department of Biology is dedicated to providing high-quality education and research with a team of over 65 qualified teaching and non-teaching staff members. The department's goal is to improve the teaching and learning process through research-based teaching methods. Research activities include projects led by staff members and postgraduate studies, focusing on conducting scientific research, providing training, and offering consultancy services in various biological disciplines and sectors. Additionally, the department is committed to providing various services and consultancies to different industries, such as food industries, bio fertilizers, land rehabilitation, food security, disease prevention and control, wildlife resources, and training on scientific writing and publication.
