General objectives
The general objective of this program is providing the government and the society with qualified legal professionals who have the required legal knowledge, skill and integrity to serve the public, and strengthen the rule of law and good governance through research, consultation and community service.
Specific Objectives
The specific objectives of the program are:
Producing LL.B Degree graduates ready, willing and able to perform at the highest possible professional and ethical standards of the legal profession, to work in every part of the country, and to begin work with a minimum of practical orientation;
Undertaking practical research concerning the role of law in the country and the use, efficiency, and effectiveness of the legal system;
Contributing to the improvement of the practice of law and the attainment of justice in the country through constructive and practical consultation and functional interaction with courts, public and private practitioners, and public;
Engaging in community service with the view to achieve one of the main purposes of the university and update the University’s status
Giving overall legal advice to make sure the university materializes its objectives while involving in different transactions with least possible costs.
Maximizing the University’s endeavor of delivering services to the society by involving in different activities in relation to human right protection particularly that of women and child rights, ensuring good governance, maintaining rule of law and justice, etc., through the activities of the department
Providing practical oriented program of study which will equip students with the knowledge expertise that will qualify them as graduates to join any of the fields that require or benefit from legal training, in or outside of the mainstream legal professions, and in any location in the country
- Elucidating to all law students, through repeated practice in coursed and in such extra-curricular activities, the ability, willingness and habit of :
- Seeking law through research,
- Thinking logically
- Analyzing critically, and
- Communicating clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Installing deeply in student, through a set of building block exercise that demonstrate the interaction between the parts of law:
- An in-depth understanding of basic notions of law and fairness, the constitutional foundation, and of human rights,
- The necessary skills to interpret and apply the law to real situations, and
- The necessary knowledge and skills to practice law in a way that serves people.
- Building and strengthen the students’ character, attitudes, judgment and confidence in service through discussion, reflection and example.
- The scope and limitations of the legal discipline and legal methods,
- The need of study and understand how related disciplines may assist the law and the legal system to achieve its objectives, and
- The impact of law and other forces that affect the life and arrangement of society

Arba Minch University celebrates the fifth Ethiopian National Flag Day for the fourth time in the University on October 29, 2012.The Day was marked under the theme: "holding our flag high, we shall realize the Ethiopian Renaissance initiated by our great architect Meles". Gathering in front of the main administration building, members of the University Management, academic and administrative staffs, students of the university and also the university community school students attended the celebration. The Day was formally opened by Dr. Agena Anjulo, the V/President for Academic of the University.
