Over the past several years the University ICT Center has been working to an ambitious plan of service expansion. ICT staff are currently working to maintain and enhance existing services, whilst implementing new services to support the academic and administrative functions of the University. Many of the services planned have now been implemented.

AMU has celebrated the 62nd world Meteorology days for the 3rd time; at Abaya Campus on March 23rd, 2012. Different events were performed by the students and staff of the department of Meteorology science gave the celebration color.
According to the department of Metrology Science, lecturer Ato Gossa Damitew said that, the 2012 WMD has celebrated in the theme of ‘powering our future with weather, Climate and water ’. This focuses on the critical roles of weather, climate and water services in powering a sustainable future for the current and the coming generation.

The ICT Center manages the University's Video Conferencing service delivered by the Ministry of Education. This service provides for the sharing of teaching and classrooms and conferencing facilities between Ethiopian Universities, including Arba Minch, Mekelle and Addis Ababa.
Throughout 2011, ICT Staff at the University planned and implemented new Video Conferencing facilities in the Main Campus and the Nech Sar Campus where the College of Medical and Health Sciences is based.

Arba Minch University Gender Affairs Offices has organized the 36th celebration of the 2012 International Women’s Day (IWD) within the university.
According to the University’s Gender Affairs office coordinators W/t Munit Mokuria, the celebration was mainly focused on promoting women’s right, the actual feminist movements and increasing awareness among the university community.
International women’s day (IWD) is an occasion marked by women around the world on March 8. This date is commemorated at the united nation and it’s decided in many countries as national holiday.
